Treasure from Trash

Recently I have developed interest in gardening with a focus "to grow what I eat" when I came across my OTGian friends through facebook. This  happened when I became a mother and wanted to introduce to my baby home grown veggies which is deprived of any chemical fertilizers and pesticides. So I Started off with growing spinach, Capsicum and tomatoes as suggested by my OTGian friends. Presently I am happy to take care of my young plants of Bush beans, Brinjal, Cow peas, Methi, Mint, Curry leaves, Spring onions, Chilly, bitter gourd and cucumber everyday squeezing out a little time in the morning. I swear it gives you divine pleasure to spend some time with the plants who are equally happy to get nurtured with your love and care.

With an increased interest in gardening, I have also learnt to reducing and recycling our daily waste which need to be practised in every sensible household in recent days. I am now in the process of harvesting my first batch of compost out of our daily kitchen waste :). As far as crafting is concerned, I was always inclined towards upcycling and making new useful things from simple raw materials available in house. Today I want to share my last weekend activity creating some useful plant markers out of soda cans.

I had used Limca and Thums up cans for the project. They are quite thin almost like a paper and easy to cut into desired shapes :)

With increasing heat here in Odisha in this summer, I am sure i'll get many more such cans to convert them into tags!

Plants in my balcony garden are happy to get a new identity of their own! ;)
